From the outside, a 1905 Victorian in Pacific Heights, recently remodeled by David Armour of Armour Architecture, deliberately appears unchanged. Painted in subtle shades of gray and accented with a minimum of gilding, it maintains the conforming sobriety of neighboring Edwardians from the same period.

Inside, however, lavish sorbet colors bring eye-opening exuberance. Even rooms with period details intact are revitalized with a riot of pastel green, blue, and pink chosen by San Francisco interior designer Emilie Munroe, a protégé of Jay Jeffers.
In the dining room, Kennebunkport Green on the ceiling and Winter Solstice on the once-dark stained wood wainscoting and cabinetry are from Benjamin Moore; the salmon-pink wallpaper is from Holland & Sherry.
