In the Healdsburg countryside, architect Malcolm Davis of MDa Studios, in collaboration with Lucas & Lucas Landscape Architecture, created a barn-style guest house and an outdoor kitchen pavilion designed to accommodate both large and small gatherings.

The standout detail of the two structures — laid out in a straight line — is a single corrugated copper roof, skylit along the ridge with corrugated polycarbonate panels. It spans the space between the buildings to form a luminous breezeway and cantilevers over the open kitchen and dining areas, providing shade and energy-saving, filtered light well into the evening.
